Hey, I’m Cassandra, and let me share my story with you.
I remember the exact moment I first received an email from my doctor inviting me to a menopause workshop.
Instinctively, my brain reacted with pure denial, “...are you sure this is for me?”
I wasn’t ready to admit menopause could be happening to me, especially since I hadn’t had children.
But my body was telling a different story. I began experiencing hot flashes, sleepless nights and forgetfulness. My energy was fading and my body wasn’t responding the way it used to.
Weight gain didn’t shift easily, and I noticed I had to slow down and take my time with things I once did quickly.
At 45, I started to wonder if this was perimenopause beginning. Now, at 49, I strongly believe I’m in the last stages of perimenopause.
My signs have been hair loss, irregular or no sign of my periods and subtle but undeniable changes in my body like belly fat.
But my changes are not just physical. It has been deeply emotional, a mourning of what once was and a letting go of what might never be. For me, it was saying goodbye to the possibility of motherhood.
Going through perimenopause opened my eyes to how little emotional support there is for women during this specific stage of their life.
So many of us are left to navigate the changes alone, feeling confused, anxious or disconnected from ourselves.
What has helped me stay balanced, positive and joyful, during my own menopausal harmony journey, goes far beyond physical exercise and supplements.
